Where It All Started

Hi, I’m Kylee.

I graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Event Management and Dance. In my final year, I realized I didn’t know what I actually wanted to do with it. I tried internships, event planning, and corporate settings, but none of them felt like me.

Then I discovered the idea of working on a cruise ship. I didn’t know where it would lead, but it felt exciting, a chance to see the world and do something completely different.

I’ve always had a lot of drive and ambition. I wanted more than a predictable career path. I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and create a life filled with adventure, connection, and purpose. That single “yes” changed everything.

And I’m Blair.

I began my career at sea in 2016 as a dancer with Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, performing across the UK, Scandinavia, the Mediterranean, the Arctic, and Atlantic islands. In 2017, I joined Carnival Cruise Line with Playlist Productions, where I grew into leadership and communication roles.

I’ve always loved performing, but what truly clicked for me was communication. I found my voice as a host, mentor, and problem-solver. Humor helped me connect with guests and teams, and that love of conversation naturally led into luxury retail and guest-facing leadership onboard.

A Quick Pit Stop

We met while Kylee was on her first cruise ship contract as an Entertainment Host and I was performing as a dancer. Somewhere between rehearsals, late-night sail-aways, and show nights, we fell in love and decided to build a future together.

After another contract at sea, we started to think bigger. The long days, constant movement, and physical demands were taking a toll, and we both craved a new challenge that pushed us mentally, not just physically.

That’s when we discovered a position called Luxury Shopping Expert. It was a niche role we had never heard of, but the woman on our ship doing it was thriving. She connected with guests, represented global brands, and made the job look incredible.

We shadowed her whenever we could, asked endless questions, and quickly realized this was what we wanted to do. It combined travel, retail, and performance into one and offered a whole new level of growth and opportunity.

Pit Stop #2: We Had to Quit Our Jobs

This was the scary part. We left our entertainment contracts before knowing if we would get the Luxury Ambassador position, but we had to take the chance on ourselves. After several interviews, auditions, and a week-long training process in Cozumel, we got the job. Still one of the happiest moments of our lives.

We completely immersed ourselves in the luxury industry, which we honestly knew nothing about. The 4 C’s? No clue. Swiss watches? Couldn’t tell you. Gemstones? Not a chance. But it was exactly the challenge we were looking for.

We learned everything, communication, body language, self-branding, and of course, product knowledge. Public speaking was something we never thought we would do, but it ended up becoming one of the most rewarding parts of the job.

Today

We were moved around from ship to ship for our first few contracts, and it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. We visited countless ports, learned the role from different angles, and quickly learned how to maximize both revenue and guest connections.

We saved more in a few months than we made the entire year prior, and had virtually no expenses. At that point, we were not just working for ourselves, but building our future. Our goals were clear. We wanted to become Luxury Ambassadors on a major cruise ship and earn an Alaska season. We did both, and we could not be prouder.

Through this journey, we built connections with top luxury leaders and mentors around the world, opening doors to incredible opportunities ahead. What a blessing it has been.
